How to choose the right package MOSFET?

Common MOSFET packages are:

① plug-in package: TO-3P, TO-247, TO-220, TO-220F, TO-251, TO-92;

② surface mount: TO-263, TO-252, SOP-8, SOT-23, DFN5 * 6, DFN3 * 3;

Different package forms, MOSFET corresponding to the limit current, voltage and heat dissipation will be different, briefly described below.

1、TO-3P/247

TO247 is one of the more commonly used small-form-factor packages, surface mount package type, 247 is the serial number of the package standard.

TO-247 package and TO-3P package are 3-pin output, inside the bare chip (i.e., circuit diagram) can be exactly the same, so the function and performance is basically the same, at most, heat dissipation and stability slightly affected!

TO247 is generally non-insulated package, TO-247 tube is generally used in high-power POWER, used as a switching tube, its withstand voltage and current will be relatively large a little bit of high-voltage, high-current MOSFET commonly used in the form of packages, the product has a high withstand voltage, high resistance to breakdown, etc., is suitable for medium-voltage and high-current (current of 10A or more, withstand voltage value of 100V or less) in the It is suitable for medium voltage and high current (current above 10A, voltage resistance value below 100V) and above 120A, voltage resistance value above 200V.

2、TO-220/220F

These two package styles of MOSFET appearance is almost the same, can be used interchangeably, but the back of the TO-220 has a heat sink, the heat dissipation effect is better than the TO-220F, the price is relatively more expensive. These two packages are suitable for medium-voltage high-current 120A or less, high-voltage high-current 20A or less applications

3、TO-251

This package is mainly to reduce costs and reduce product size, mainly used in medium voltage high current 60A or less, high voltage 7N or less environment.

 

4、TO-92

The package only low-voltage MOSFET (current below 10A, voltage value below 60V) and high-voltage 1N60/65 in the use, mainly to reduce costs.

5、TO-263

Is a variant of TO-220, mainly designed to improve production efficiency and heat dissipation, to support very high current and voltage, in the 150A below, 30V above the medium voltage and high current MOSFET is more common.

6、TO-252

It is one of the mainstream packages, suitable for high voltage below 7N, medium voltage below 70A environment.

7、SOP-8

The package is also designed to reduce costs, generally below 50A in the medium voltage, 60V or so in the low-voltage MOSFETs are more common.

8、SOT-23

Suitable for several A current, 60V and the following voltage environment, which is divided into two kinds of large volume and small volume, the main difference is that the current value is different.
